What is Elderberry? Elderberry is one of the most commonly used plants in the world. Today, it is used as a supplement to treat cold and flu symptoms, amongst many other ailments. Some have even used it to treat cancer! Basically, it's a miracle potion. I swear by it, hands down! Any time myself, husband, family members, friends, or one of my three children feel sickness coming on, we triple up our Elderberry dosage and within a couple of days, sickness be gone! Taken daily, Elderberry will naturally boost your immunity while helping to fight off viruses and illness. It's proven, scientifically, to reduce the severity and duration of the flu, the common cold, allergies and much more. Go check out "Our Story" to hear about how I personally heard about it.
Do you recommend taking Elderberry daily as a preventative? While I'm not a doctor, I personally recommend 1 tablespoon a day for Adults and 1 teaspoon a day for children over the age of 12 months every single day, especially during the height of Flu Season, for viral prevention and immunity support.
What if I'm feeling symptoms? If you feel symptomatic or are diagnosed with the flu or any ailment, you should triple your dosage every 3-4 hours until symptoms subside. Science has proven that by doing this within the first 48 hours of cold/flu symptoms, the severity and the duration will be drastically reduced. (These statements are not FDA-approved, but I practice what I preach!)
Are Gummies good for “on-the-go”? It is not recommended, as the Gummies are homemade with no chemicals, preservatives or refined sugars and should be refrigerated after opening. The Elixir would be your best option for "on the go," as you can pour some in a travel size bottle and take it along with you. It does not HAVE to stay refrigerated constantly, but do try to keep in a cool place consistently after opening.
What is the difference between the Elderberry Elixir and the Elderberry Gummies? The Gummies have Gelatin & Citric Acid in them and the Elixir is more potent, as there is only a teaspoon of Elixir in every 4-5 gummies. You need to take more gummies to get the same medicinal effect as the Elixir.
Are your products vegan appropriate? The ingredients in the Elixir are certainly fine for a vegan lifestyle. Elderberries, Ginger, Cinnamon, Clover, Turmeric, Black Pepper, and Honey. The gummies, however, contain gelatin, which most Vegans sway from. That being said, we customize frequently! We can also use organic pectin in the place of gelatin if desired. If you have any allergies or sensitivities to certain ingredients, just send us a message and we will always do our best to accommodate your request.
How long is the Elixir’s shelf life? Once you open the bottle it should be refrigerated and will last approx 90 days. Any unopened bottles, if kept in a cool place, should last you 90-120 days.
What if I have still have some unused Elixir and I'm getting close to the expiration date? If you have a substantial amount of Elixir left, you can freeze it in ice cube trays and store in the freezer for 6-9 months! These make perfect ice cubes for juice, iced tea, lemonade, water, or even just to munch on! You can also let them liquify in the refrigerator for a couple of days and take normally if desired.
Can you take Elderberry Elixir and other products all year round? Yes, you can absolutely take all year. It's recommended that you increase your dosage through the cold, flu and allergy season or if feeling ill.
Do I need to add my own sweetener? I use just enough local honey to sweeten the batch to ensure no "tartness." However, you are more than welcome to add more of your local honey, or desired sweetener, to make it even more sweet. If you use your own local honey, this will help ease allergy symptoms if you have any. You will need your own sweetener if purchasing our DIY kit, however.
How is your Elderberry Elixir and products different from others? One thing that sets us apart is our addition of Turmeric and Black Pepper to all of our batches, to help with inflammation. We also pride ourselves on the ability to make small batches, meaning they stay fresh and don't sit as "inventory" for long periods of time. Every time you order, you are getting a product that has been freshly handcrafted within 1-2 weeks of your order date. Not all Elderberry syrup makers do this. Also, we also love to "customize" batches for our customers at their request meaning we work with you to suit your needs best. One thing I tell people is that the "medicine" is inside of each and every Elderberry. Because of this, we use a metal press 3 different times to ensure every drop of Elderberry GOODness is accounted for. Our strategy, while tedious, is important to us! Doing so increases the overall potency and amount of Elderberry you are getting in each serving, therefore giving you a product that actually works.
How potent is the Elderberry Tea compared to the Elixir? The Elixir is much more potent due to the fact that we press the medicine out of the berries and add it back into the Elixir itself before bottling (as stated above). One way you can ensure more “medicinal benefits” from the tea is to take an extra step by “pressing” the tea yourself with a clean thumb through your tea infuser. You can also opt to use cheesecloth or a coffee filter to squeeze the strained tea mixture after seeping.
What if I don't like it or it doesn't "work" for me? We are extremely confident that all of our products are, in fact, GOOD. That being said, if you don't think so, just let us know! We will give you your money back if you are not 100% completely satisfied with any of our products. We stand by the quality of each and every product we make, so we encourage your feedback, as it can only make us better. We won't ever know unless you tell us.
